Injuries Reported in Cedar Park Pedestrian Accident on E Whitestone Boulevard and Discovery Boulevard
CEDAR PARK, TX (December 19, 2024) – Last December 9, Lizbeth Martel sustained injuries in a crippling pedestrian crash on E Whitestone Boulevard.
The crash involving a school bus and a pedestrian happened at about 6:35 a.m. on E Whitestone Boulevard and Discovery Boulevard.
A woman sustained injuries near a crosswalk after being struck by a Leander Independent School District bus, according to reports.
Cedar Park police cited the bus driver for failing to yield the right of way to a pedestrian. Investigators reviewing bus video footage with district transportation officials indicated that darkness and rain likely hindered the driver’s visibility, contributing to the incident.
Brittany Duke, Director of Jupiter House Preschool in Cedar Park, confirmed the victim as one of the school’s teachers, identified as Martel. She has over 30 years of teaching experience.
According to a GoFundMe, Martel sustained “significant injuries to her leg.” Over $2,000 has been raised to support her medical expenses and cover her time away from work.
