Hairdresser Lisa Fiedler Among 34 Killed in Santa Barbara County Boat Fire
SANTA BARBARA, CA (September 2, 2019) – After the diving boat fire early Monday near Santa Cruz Island, one fatality victim was identified as Lisa Fiedler.
According to Fiedler’s mother, Lisa, is a 52-year-old hairdresser from Mill Valley, California. In addition, she is a photographer and an avid diver. She described her daughter as a kind and gentle person who loved nature.
Based reports, flames engulfed the diving vessel Conception in the predawn hours of Labor Day off the coast of Southern California. 39 people, including six crew members, were on board during the accident. Five crew members escaped the fire. However, the other 34 in the boat did not. As of Wednesday afternoon, search teams recovered 33 bodies. One person is still missing.
The other victims were identified as: Neal Baltz, Patricia Beitzinger, Allie Kurtz, Berenice Felipe, Tia Salika, Steve Salika, Diana Adamic, Evan Quitasol, Nicole Quitasol, Angela Quitasol, Fernisa Sison, and Michael Quitasol. In addition, police identified Kristy Finstad, Marybeth Guiney, Scott Chan, Kendra Chan, and Charles Mcllvain. Police did not released the identities of the remaining victims.
The cause of the fire is being investigated by the Santa Barbara County Fire Department.
