1 Dead in Oakdale Pedestrian Accident on F Street
OAKDALE, CA (September 29, 2020) – Sunday morning, a fatal pedestrian crash involving Linda Smith occurred on F Street in Oakdale.
Reports revealed that the incident happened around 10:15 a.m. in 1700 W. F Street. According to CHP reports, a Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck driver was trying to make a U-turn.
In the parking lot of Oakdale Family Church of the Nazarene, the driver accelerated and hit a metal support pole.
Then, she hit a pedestrian standing in a walkway. Afterward, 71-year-old Linda Smith of Oakdale rammed through the west side of a church building.
As a result, the 69-year-old male pedestrian from Oakdale succumbed to injuries at the scene. Meanwhile, responders transported Linda Smith to a local hospital as a precautionary measure. However, the CHP clarified that she didn’t suffer any injury.
Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that alcohol played a role in the crash.
CHP spokesman Officer Thomas Olsen said that their investigation is still in its preliminary stage. “We do not suspect, at this time, any mechanical defects (in the pickup) before the collision,” he added.

Deadly Pedestrian Accidents in California
While car accidents are far more common than pedestrian accidents, there is still reason to be wary when traveling on foot.
Common locations for these pedestrian incidents include shopping center entrances and street corners, but even freeways as well.
“Pedestrian accidents do not occur as much as motor vehicle accidents, but the pedestrian accidents tend to include more serious injuries,” says Tyler Toomey, a practicing attorney at Sweet Lawyers.
