72-Year-Old Lompoc Woman Identified as Driver Killed in Collision near Jalama Road
LOMPOC, CA (September 24, 2018) – A woman was killed Monday afternoon following a two-vehicle crash near Jalama Road. The victim was later identified as 72-year-old Linda Bailey, a resident of Lompoc.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident took place at about 2:30 PM on Highway 1. A 2014 Honda sedan, driven by the victim, made an unsafe turn and drifted into oncoming traffic.
There, she collided head-on with a 2006 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by 46-year-old Jose Tafoya of Oxnard.
The impact of the collision fatally injured Bailey, and she was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meanwhile, Tafoya and his 32-year-old passenger, identified as Jose Caudillo of Santa Barbara, were unharmed in the crash.
