4 Injured Glenn County 2-Vehicle Crash
GLENN COUNTY, CA (May 15, 2019) – A collision on Highway 99W left four people injured Sunday afternoon. The California Highway Patrol reported that dispatch of the Willows CHP and an ambulance commenced at about 1 p.m. near County Road 18 in an unincorporated area of Glenn County.
Two vehicles were involved in the incident. A Toyota Tacoma was westbound on County Road 18, approaching the intersection at an unknown rate of speed. In the meantime, a Chevy Silverado was southbound on Highway 99W approaching the intersection of County Road 18 at a stated speed of 45mph to 50 mph.
The Toyota driver, 58-year-old Lianxay Louankang of Corning, allegedly failed to yield to traffic on Highway 99W while proceeding into the intersection. The driver of the Chevy, 25-year-old Clint Johns of Orland, hit the brakes to avoid a collision as he approached the intersection. However, the front of the Chevy still collided with the right side of the Toyota. As a result, the Toyota left the west road edge of the highway and crashed into an olive tree. Both vehicles came to rest on their wheels. The crash caused major damage to both vehicles.
Louankang’s passenger, 66-year-old Tommy Vanthida of Red Bluff, sustained major injuries including a collapsed lung and a shattered pelvis. Paramedics transported him to Enloe Medical Center.
Louankang, Johns, and Johns’ passenger – 22-year-old Katelyn Decamp of Orland – had minor injuries.
Officials said alcohol and drugs were not factors in the collision.
