LAKESIDE, CA (August 11, 2018) – A Waterloo girl was found dead after a boating accident on Moreno Avenue. The San Diego County Medical Examiner’s Office identified the victim as 12-year-old Lia Rose Barakett.
As per reports, Barakett was in a boat towing people on a tube when one of the riders fell off of it at about 6:00 PM in San Vicente Reservoir. The operator suddenly stopped the boat, causing the victim to fall into the water. The vessel continued to move and ran over Barakett.

Four days later, Barakett was found around 165 feet below the surface with the help of a sonar device. Officials stated that the girl was wearing a life jacket at the time of the incident, but somehow became separated from it.
Additional information regarding this unfortunate event was not available to the public at this time.
