Joshua Kohl Arrested in Sonora Multi-Vehicle Accident on Highway 108

 
SONORA, CA (July 19, 2022) – Saturday morning, Leroy Keller and Earlene Keller suffered injuries in a crash on Highway 108.
 
The incident occurred at 8:00 a.m. on Highway 108 near the Long Barn area. According to reports, a stolen vehicle went west on Highway 108.
 
When the officers responded, they found the stolen grey Ford F350 pickup truck. Then, an officer positioned the patrol vehicle directly behind the Ford. However, the driver, 49-year-old Joshua Kohl of La Mesa, CA, accelerated and passed a vehicle over the double yellow lines.
 
As the suspect made the unsafe passing maneuver, 86-year-old Leroy Keller of Sonora drove his 2004 Chevrolet Silverado. Keller drove eastbound on Highway 108, east of Cofill Road together with his passenger 80-year-old Earlene Keller of Sonora.
 

More Details on the Crash

 
Eventually, the two vehicles collided head-on and the impact pushed the Ford to strike a 2016 Chevrolet Sonic. Reports revealed that 59-year-old Diana Barreno of Twain Harte drove the Chevrolet Sonic.
 
After the crash with the Sonic, the Ford crashed into an embankment. Then, the Ford crashed into 59-year-old Charles Hester of San Mateo driving a 2018 Subaru Outback.
 
Officers confirmed that both Mr. and Ms. Keller sustained major injuries. Thus, they airlifted them to Doctors Medical Center and Memorial Medical Center.
 
Meanwhile, the occupants from the other vehicles suffered no injuries in the crash.
 
Moreover, authorities arrested Joshua Kohl after he received treatment for his minor injuries. Then, officers transported him to the Tuolumne County Jail. Currently, he’s facing charges on possession of a stolen vehicle, assault with a deadly weapon and passing over a divided highway, and causing injuries.
 
Furthermore, the authorities do not believe that drugs and alcohol played a role in the crash.
