Ian Meyer Injured and Leonardo Deanda Dead in Solo-Vehicle Accident near Frazier Mountain Park Road
BAKERSFIELD, CA (May 27, 2018) – One man killed while another was seriously injured in a rollover accident on Interstate 5, early Sunday morning. The deceased victim was identified by the coroner’s office as 19-year-old Leonardo Deanda of Olivehurst.
According to the California Highway Patrol, 20-year-old Ian Meyer of Bakersfield was driving northbound I-5 around 3:30 AM when he swerved left and crashed into the center median wall, just north of Frazier Mountain Park Road.
From the impact of the collision, the vehicle rolled over.
Deanda was not wearing his seatbelt and was ejected from the car. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders. Meyer sustained serious, but non-life threatening, injuries and was transported to Kern Medical. There is no update on his current condition at this time. There were no other vehicles involved in the incident.

Authorities continue to investigate the fatal collision, but do not believe that drugs and alcohol were contributing factors. No additional information was immediately disclosed to the public.
