Police Search for Hit-And-Run Driver after Crash on 7th Street and Buckeye Road

Phoenix, AZ (September 22, 2023) – Thursday night, 20-year-old Leonardo Cortez died in a hit-and-run crash on 7th Street and Buckeye Road.

The fatal hit-and-run crash happened around 7:30 p.m. on September 21.

Phoenix Police said Cortez was struck by a car, however, the driver immediately fled the scene.

Police believe Cortez was crossing 7th Street mid-block when he was hit. 

The vehicle was reportedly traveling northbound on 7th Street.

No suspect information or vehicle description at this time.
