Jay Selina Arrested for DUI Accident near Nooksack River Bridge
FERNDALE, WA (March 6, 2018) – Around 7:30 PM on Tuesday evening, two cars crashed on Slater Road near Nooksack River Bridge.
According to Whatcom County Fire District 7 Division Chief Dean Crosswhite, a Lincoln MKS and Chevrolet Cruz were the two vehicles involved in the incident.
Both drivers were transported to the PeaceHealth St Joseph Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. He said that if it weren’t for the airbags, the injuries would have been more severe. Driver of the Lincoln, 65-year-old Jay Selina was admitted and later arrested for driving under the influence. Chevy driver, 24-year-old Leonard Palermo, was treated and later released.
Slater road was temporarily closed for several hours while the wreckage was cleared and police officials investigated the scene of the crash. The area east of the Nooksack River Bridge was blocked.
No other information has been provided by authorities at this time.
