Hit-and-Run Driver Wanted after Fatal Motorized Scooter Collision near Colton Avenue
REDLANDS, CA (October 16, 2018) – A man was killed early Tuesday morning following a hit-and-run crash near Colton Avenue. The deceased victim was later identified as 48-year-old Leonard Gilberto Ortiz, a resident of Redlands.
According to officials with the Redlands Police Department, the incident took place at about 6:30 AM. Ortiz was riding a moped-style scooter on Orange Street when he was struck by an SUV.
Paramedics rushed Ortiz to the Loma Linda University Medical Center for treatment of unspecified injuries. Unfortunately, he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead by medical staff. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV did not stop to render aid and immediately fled the area.
