46-Year-Old Cathedral City Woman Dies after Rollover Crash near Tachevah Drive, Mario Garcia Arrested
CATHEDRAL CITY, CA (October 16, 2018) – A woman was killed early Tuesday morning following a DUI crash near Tachevah Drive. The deceased victim was later identified as 46-year-old Lenette Saubel, a resident of Cathedral City.
According to the Cathedral City Police Department, the incident took place at about 2:04 AM. For unknown reasons, an unidentified car rolled over in the northbound lanes of Date Palm Drive.
Saubel, the lone passenger in the overturned vehicle, suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. Meanwhile, the driver, identified as 46-year-old Mario Garcia of Cathedral City, was transported to the Desert Regional Medical Center in Palm Springs with minor injuries.
Garcia was then arrested on suspicion of murder and DUI gross vehicular manslaughter. Authorities reported that the suspect’s blood-alcohol level was measured at more than three times the legal limit of .08 percent. As per jail records, Garcia was being held at the Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, in lieu of a $1 million bail.
