Elderly Man Hit by Car While Jogging at Mckee Road and South Bear Creek Drive
MERCED, CA (June 28, 2019) – An elderly man was injured following a pedestrian crash Friday morning in Merced.
The crash happened around 7:50 a.m., at the intersection of McKee Road and South Bear Creek Drive. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
According to reports, 80-year-old Lee Boese was jogging westbound on South Bear Creek Drive, crossing McKee Road. There, a 2017 Buick Encore, driven by 40-year-old Rickee Marie Hill, was turning east from South Bear Creek drive to northbound McKee Road.
For unknown reasons Hill did not see Boese jogging westbound across McKee Road while she made her left turn.
Hill struck Boese at the intersection and Boese rolled over the hood of the Buick. Boese fell to the ground and struck the asphalt.
Boese sustained lacerations to the head and was flown to a Modesto area hospital with moderate injuries.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be a factor. It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined.
The incident remains under investigation.
