Tanker Truck and U-Haul Truck Collide on 5 Freeway in Lebec, Fatality Reported
LEBEC, CA (December 22, 2018) – One person was killed following a truck accident early Saturday morning on 5 Freeway in Lebec.
The fatal accident happened around 4:46 p.m. on the southbound direction of 5 Freeway, just South of Lower Water Hole.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a tanker truck carrying oil and a U-Haul truck collided for unknown reasons. One occupant in the tanker truck was pinned inside but still responsive when officers arrived.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and provided life-saving aid to one patient with major injuries.
Sadly, the badly injured patient did not survive and was declared dead. The identity of the victim was not immediately available pending next of kin notification.
A coroner’s personnel was notified to pick up the victim’s remains and conduct a full report.
