Pedestrian Fatally Struck by Hit-and-Run Driver at Floral and Highland Avenues
SELMA, CA (December 2, 2019) – A man died in a hit-and-run crash Monday evening in Selma, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The crash happened around 10:00 p.m. near the intersection of Floral and Highland avenues.
According to reports, the man was walking in dark clothing when a four-door sedan struck him. The pedestrian was then dragged some distance.
Law enforcement along with paramedics responded and found the man lying in the southbound lanes of Highland Avenue. Despite life-saving efforts, the man was pronounced dead a short time later.
Authorities later identified the victim as 70-year-old Leandro Badillo of Selma.
The vehicle that struck Badillo reportedly took off after the crash.
Detectives are following up with witnesses from the scene as well as checking for video from businesses around the area for more information.
