Girl Riding Bicycle Fatally Struck by Vehicle near Greenfield Road Trail Crossing
GILBERT, AZ (September 24, 2019) – Authorities identified 15-year-old Lauren Hutchins as the girl hit and killed by a vehicle on Greenfield Road, early Tuesday evening.
According to the Gilbert Police Department, the incident happened at about 5:30 PM. Lauren attempted to cross the street while on her bike near Elliot Road. There, a vehicle struck the victim.
Emergency responders rushed Lauren to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries. Unfortunately, she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead the next day.
The 57-year-old driver of the vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. Authorities ruled out speed and impairment as factors in the fatal collision. Police will release additional information once it becomes available.
