60-Year-Old Woman from Morro Bay Hospitalized after Hit-And-Run Crash on Highway 1 in Cambria
Cambria, CA (September 24, 2021) – Last month, 60-year-old Laura Lowe from Morro Bay sustained severe injuries after a hit-and-run crash on Highway 1.
The crash in Cambria happened at around 9 a.m on September 24.
The CHP said the woman was cycling southbound on Highway 1, approaching the Ardath Drive intersection, which is the southernmost stoplight in Cambria.
Moreover, witnesses told CHP that a black Lexus or Toyota sedan, traveling east on Ardath Drive, made a right turn onto the highway, failing to see the cyclist approaching from the left side.
As a result, the cyclist collided with the driver’s side of the car. However, the vehicle immediately fled the scene.
The victim was taken to Sierra Vista Regional Medical Center in San Luis Obispo by a Cambria Community Healthcare District ambulance. She suffered a broken collarbone.
Further, the California Highway Patrol is searching for a vehicle.
Anyone with information about the incident may call the Templeton CHP office at 805-434-1822.
Additionally, a GoFundMe has been kickstarted in order to help Ms. Lowe on her journey to recovery. You can access and donate to the fundraiser here.
