Kyle Jesse Maysey Seriously Injured in Fatal Collision near Olive Mill Road
MONTECITO, CA (June 2, 2018) – A woman was killed and a man was seriously injured following a single-car crash, early Saturday morning. Authorities identified the woman as 23-year-old Laura Kristine Rose and the man as 31-year-old Kyle Jesse Maysey, both residents of Mission Viejo.
The collision happened at about 1:40 AM on Highway 101 near the Olive Mill Road off-ramp.
Maysey was driving a 2017 Hyundai when it left the roadway, went down an embankment, and slammed into a street light and a tree. It is unclear why the vehicle swerved off the road at this time.
Rose, who was the front-seat passenger, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Maysey and was transported by AMR ambulance to the Santa Barbara Cottage Hospital with major injuries. Details and updates about Maysey’s condition were not immediately available.
The cause of the collision is still being investigated by the California Highway Patrol. Drugs and alcohol were ruled out as contributing factors in the collision. It was also noted that both occupants were secured in a seat belt and that the weather was clear at the time of the incident.
