Lathxay Lou Souknalong Survives Horrific Auto Accident on Highway 41 [Fresno, CA]

1 Dead in Fresno Vehicle Crash on Highway 41 and Highway 180

FRESNO, CA (November 27, 2024) – Early Tuesday morning, 54-year-old Lathxay Lou Souknalong survived a horrific auto accident on Highway 41.

The crash occurred just after 5:30 a.m. on Highway 41 and Highway 180 in Central Fresno.

According to the California Highway Patrol, Souknalong driving a black Toyota Tacoma traveled west on Highway 180. Due to heavy rains, he lost control and went over the guardrail, landing on Highway 41 below. 

The passenger was transported to the hospital but later died, while the driver sustained injuries and is expected to recover. Meanwhile, officers said that Souknalang could be facing manslaughter charges for driving with a suspended license.

“He was trying to do a good deed, I’m sure, trying to take over for the driver. However, again, just don’t risk it. Licenses get suspended for a reason and don’t risk it by letting someone who has a suspended or no license get behind that wheel,” Mike Salas, Public Information Officer for CHP Fresno said.

Officers noted that rainy weather contributed to the crash, with slippery roads causing issues for multiple drivers across the Valley. The CHP advises drivers to check their tire pressure to reduce the risk of hydroplaning.
