Couple Killed in Madera Motorcycle Accident on State Route 145

 
MADERA, CA (July 8, 2021) – Wednesday night, a couple on a motorcycle, Larry and Penny Stanford, died in a crash on State Route 145 and Island Drive.
 
The SR-145 accident occurred at about 9:12 p.m. by Road 44 and Island Drive. According to California Highway Patrol, the incident involved a blue Hyundai and a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
 
The impact ejected the two motorcycle occupants.
 
Due to the motorcyclist’s injuries, responders transported Skylife to Community Reginal Medical Center in Fresno, where he later died.
 
The passenger was taken to Madera Community Hospital where she too died.
The pair were identified as Chowchilla residents Larry Dale Stanford, 67, and Penny Louise Stanford, 63.
 
Later reports say Mark Cully, 60, of Coarsegold, attempted a left turn in the Hyundai, right in the path of Stanford’s motorcycle.
 
At this time, the CHP hasn’t confirmed whether Cully will face charges due to the crash. Also, they said that it’s too early to determine whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the crash.
 
Due to the limited information available, the authorities continue to investigate the fatal crash.
