One Dead and One Injured in Pedestrian Collision near Lewis Brown Road
VALLEJO, CA (April 20, 2018) – A pedestrian collision on Sonoma Boulevard killed one man and injured another, late Friday night. The deceased victim was identified as 37-year-old Larry Jones II.
According to reports, a patrolling Vallejo Police sergeant noticed a man lying on the ground on Sonoma Boulevard just south of Lewis Brown Road, around 11:50 PM. The man, identified as Jones, was unconscious and might have been a victim of a pedestrian collision. Emergency crews arrived at the scene and pronounced Jones dead.
A second victim was also found suffering from non-life threatening injuries and was immediately transported to a hospital for treatment. Their identity and current condition have not yet been released.
In the initial investigation, the police stated that the pedestrians were trying to cross outside of a crosswalk when a 2008 Ford Focus hit the two. The 47-year-old driver of the Ford Focus was later found near the scene. Drugs, alcohol, or speeding are not suspected to have played a part in the fatal collision, but they are still trying to confirm their initial findings.
No other information was released to the public at this time.
