Police Officer Hospitalized after Rear-End Collision on West Centinela Avenue
CULVER CITY, CA (June 26, 2018) – A Los Angeles Police Department sergeant was seriously injured, following a hit-and-run crash on Bristol Parkway, early Tuesday morning.
The incident took place at about 1:30 AM in the area of Bristol Parkway and Centinela Avenue. The LAPD sergeant was at a red light when a woman in a silver Ford Fusion pulled alongside her in an attempt to catch her attention. That was when a silver Cadillac Escalade slammed into the rear of both cars.
The impact of the collision pushed the patrol vehicle to the left, resulting in its collision with a concrete pillar. The unidentified female sergeant was transported to a local hospital after suffering multiple broken bones, possibly in the arm and foot. The driver of the Cadillac fled the scene, while the woman inside the Fusion was reportedly unharmed from the collision.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the woman was being chased by the driver of the Cadillac, later identified as her boyfriend. An incident of domestic abuse that occurred earlier in Inglewood was suspected to be the reason why the woman was attempting to flee from the vehicle.
Later that day, a Ladera Heights resident reported about an abandoned silver Cadillac Escalade was parked outside of his house. Officers were canvassing the neighborhood, looking for witnesses or CCTV footage that may have captured the suspect, who has not been identified at this time. They also warned the public that the suspect may be armed and dangerous. Anyone with relevant information regarding the whereabouts of the hit-and-run driver is encouraged to contact the investigators by calling the CHP West Los Angeles Area Office at (310) 642-3939.
