Officer Hospitalized After Crash on the 405 Freeway in Brentwood

Brentwood, CA (November 21, 2024) – A crash on the 405 Freeway  involving an LAPD motorcycle officer led to the closure of several northbound lanes on Thursday afternoon.

The California Highway Patrol (CHP) closed two lanes and the HOV lane for about an hour to investigate the collision, which involved the motorcycle officer, a Tesla, and a Mercedes SUV.

The officer suffered a dislocated shoulder and was transported to a hospital for treatment, according to the CHP.

The closure, near the Skirball Center exit, caused significant traffic congestion on the freeway and nearby surface streets as many commuters made their way home.

As of 6 p.m., the closure was expected to last more than two hours, with traffic backups stretching over seven miles on the Westside.
