Damage Reported in Solo-Vehicle Collision near Spring Street
LA MESA, CA (September 12, 2018) – Lanes were closed early Wednesday morning following a semi-truck crash on Highway 125.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place at approximately 6:06 AM, near Spring Street. For unknown reasons, the truck driver lost control and swerved into a guardrail along the highway. The truck’s trailer became detached and overturned in the two right lanes, dumping its load of concrete on the roadway.
Based on the medics’ report, no injuries were sustained in the incident. The impact of the solo-vehicle collision damaged at least 150 feet of guardrail and concrete walls in the area. A Caltrans inspector was called in to determine the extent of damage to the bridge. La Mesa Police shut access to Panorama Drive, and crews temporarily shut down the highway in both directions in order to remove the concrete block from the freeway.
No additional information has been released, as the investigation continues.
