Driver’s Seizure Possible Cause of Fiery Crash on 5 Freeway
MISSION VIEJO, CA (July 30, 2019) – Lanes closed after a multi-car crash on northbound 5 Freeway, Tuesday afternoon.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the collision took place just north of Oso Parkway around 1:51 PM. Based on an initial report, three vehicles were involved in the pile-up accident. The parties were identified as a white Toyota Matrix, a Honda Accord, and an unknown car. The Matrix and another one caught fire in the incident.
The paramedics said that the Matrix driver had seizure prior to the collision and seen bleeding from the mouth. It is not yet known if others sustained injuries.
A SigAlert issued closed the No. 1 lane for an hour while rescue and clearing operations took place in the area.
