Chain Controls In Effect after Alta Auto Accident on Interstate 80

 
ALTA, CA (January 27, 2021) – Monday, lanes were blocked after multiple spinouts and crashes on Interstate 80.
 
According to the CHP, the eastbound traffic was stalled because of the crashes. One of the crashes involved a jack-knifed big rig that has closed all lanes near Drum Forebay.
 
Because of the continuous snowfall in the Sierra, the authorities initiated chain controls on Interstate 80 for those headed east from Drum Forebay to Cisco Grove.
 
By 8:05 p.m., the eastbound Interstate 80 has reopened, said the California Highway Patrol. However, the chain controls remained in effect.
 
If you feel yourself drifting into other lanes due to fatigue or any other reason, safely pull over and rest before continuing to drive. You can also call a friend or an Uber to pick you up if you feel like it would be unsafe to drive.
