Traffic Stalled after Seattle Accident on Ship Canal Bridge and State Route 520
SEATTLE, WA (February 2, 2023) – Wednesday morning, a multi-vehicle crash on Ship Canal Bridge and State Route 520 blocked lanes.
Authorities received a report of the crash at about 8:30 a.m. The incident involving five vehicles happened in the mid-span of the Ship Canal Bridge, north of State Route 520.
Meanwhile, all lanes reopened to traffic by 9:50 a.m.
Also, authorities advised motorists to expect delays in the area.
The incident led to a 3-mile backup on the southbound express lanes. Also, it caused a 4-mile backup on the southbound I-5 mainlines from the off-ramp to North 85th Street around 9:40 a.m.
“Light backups will continue to linger on both the express lanes and mainline, so expect some delays!” the WSDOT said.
Meanwhile, tow trucks responded to the scene by 9:00 a.m. to clear the crash.
WSP Trooper Rick Johnson confirmed that the incident led to no major injuries.
Meanwhile, medical aid, the WSP, and the King County Sheriff’s Office all came to the scene.
