45-Year-Old Woman Fatally Struck by Vehicle While Crossing near 132nd Street
HAWTHORNE, CA (April 29, 2018) – A pedestrian collision claimed the life of a woman crossing Inglewood Avenue, on Sunday night. The victim was later identified by the coroner’s office as 45-year-old Laneisha Raleigh.
According to the Hawthorne Police, they received reports about a pedestrian collision at 132nd Street and Inglewood Avenue, around 8:22 PM. Upon arrival, the authorities found a woman under a parked vehicle, where she landed after the impact of the accident threw her to the curb.
In the preliminary investigation, it was determined that Raleigh still crossed Inglewood despite the signal already turning red. The vehicle was driving through a green light when it struck her, police said. The driver stopped and stayed at the scene to cooperate with authorities. Drugs and alcohol are not believed to be involved as factors in the crash, as the driver passed sobriety tests and even volunteered for a blood testing.
No other information is available to the public at the moment.
