Lance Erskine and 1 Other Dies in Santa Ana Freeway Crash [Santa Fe Springs, CA]

Landon Hazelwood Arrested in Fatal DUI Crash near Carmenita Road

Santa Fe Springs, CA (December 6, 2023) On Tuesday morning, 20-year-old Lance Erskine of Fountain Valley and another passenger were killed in the Santa Ana (5) Freeway Crash.

According to the CHP, the fatal DUI crash happened around 1:35 a.m. on the southbound freeway and the Carmenita Road exit.

Reports say that 19-year-old Landon Hazelwood was driving under the influence and crashed his vehicle into the back of a stopped big rig.

Officials say that first responders found Hazelwood injured and his 2 passengers dead at the scene. Erskine was later identified by the Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner as one of the passengers.

Medics rushed Hazelwood to the hospital and was later arrested on suspicion of drunken driving.

CHP is investigating the fatal DUI crash and have not released further information at this time.
