Bales of Hay Causes Fatal Chain-Reaction Crash in Lancaster
LANCASTER, CA (January 15, 2019) – At least one person was killed following a multi-vehicle crash Tuesday morning in Lancaster, CHP officials said.
The fatal crash happened around 5:44 a.m. at the intersection of East Avenue E and 50th Street E.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a black Jeep Cherokee, a black Mercedes-Benz sedan, a silver SUV and two other vehicles were involved. One of the cars collided with several bales of bay in the roadway causing a chain-reaction crash.
Los Angeles County Fire Department officials responded to the scene along with paramedics and found at least one fatality as a result of the accident. The identity of the victim was not immediately available.
The Avenue E was closed from 50th Street to 60th Street for unknown duration while the investigation was being conducted.
