1 Dead and 3 Injured in Modesto Auto Accident on Gates Road and Highway 132
MODESTO, CA (June 18, 2021) – Tuesday, Lamar Garth and two passengers suffered injuries in a fatal head-on crash on Gates Road.
The incident occurred near the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge.
According to the initial investigation, the 46-year-old woman drove a 2005 Ford SUV south on Gates Road, north of Highway 132. As she traveled, two passengers rode with her.
Meanwhile, 47-year-old Lamar Garth from Riverbank traveled north on Gates Road in a 2006 Chrysler sedan.
For unknown reasons, Garth’s car veered to the right until it hit a metal guardrail. Then, the impact sent the vehicle into the Ford’s path.
As the two vehicles crashed head-on, the Ford overturned and landed on its right side.
Responders took the 46-year-old female driver to Doctors Medical Center, where she later died. She didn’t wear a seat belt during the collision.
Meanwhile, responders took Lamar Garth to Doctors with major injuries.
The two Ford passengers suffered minor injuries which didn’t require hospitalization.
Also, the authorities do not believe that alcohol or drugs played a role in the crash.
