Unlicensed Driver Arrested after Death of Indian Tourist in Fresno County
FRESNO COUNTY, CA (September 26, 2019) – Authorities identified 52-year-old Lal Singh as the tourist from India killed in an accident in Fresno County, Thursday evening.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident happened at about 6:00 PM. The victim was riding his bike legally westbound on Mountain View Avenue when a 2005 Audi sedan struck him.
As a result of the impact, the bicyclist was ejected onto the roadway. Emergency responders pronounced him dead at the scene.
Officers arrested the unlicensed driver, identified as 19-year-old Savannah Gomez. They booked her into Fresno County Jail and is facing charges of vehicular manslaughter and driving without a valid license.
The CHP ruled out alcohol and drugs as factors in the fatal crash. Investigators encourage witnesses to cooperate as soon as possible. Authorities will release additional information to the public once it becomes available.
