LAKESIDE, CA (February 5, 2019) – One person was seriously injured following a hit-and-run crash Tuesday night in Lakeside.
The crash happened just before 6:00 p.m. on Highway 67 at Johnson Lake Road.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a car was pinned up against a tree after being struck by another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle reportedly took off without rendering aid.
When officers arrived, they located one passenger who was pinned inside the car with major injuries. The badly injured patient was rushed to a hospital in an unknown condition.
At this time, authorities are still on the lookout for the hit-and-run driver and investigating the factors involved in the crash.
When driving, always obey the speed limit and be aware of your surroundings. And if you get involved in a hit-and-run crash, do not flee the scene. It is required by state law to stop your car and call the police, identify and talk to witnesses, and check on other drivers, passengers, and pedestrians. Leaving the scene of a crash will only result in more severe consequences like traffic tickets or a felony charge that can lead to jail time.
