27-Year-Old Man Dies while Riding a Stolen Car in Lakeside
LAKESIDE, CA (January 27, 2019) – One person was killed in a traffic accident early Sunday morning in Lakeside, authorities said.
The crash happened just after 4:00 a.m. at the intersection of Moreno Avenue and San Vicente Avenue.
According to reports, a white 2003 Chevrolet Tahoe had been traveling northbound on Moreno Avenue when it lost control for unknown reasons. The vehicle traveled across the southbound lane where it struck a tree. It then overturned and landed on its passenger side.
CHP officers arriving at the scene found one occupant with fatal injuries. The deceased was a 27-year-old man who was partially ejected from the SUV and pinned under the right side of the vehicle. It was believed that the man was unrestrained at the time of the crash.
It is unknown if the man was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Authorities later learned that the vehicle had been reported stolen in 2018.
Alcohol and drugs are being ruled out as factors in the crash. Further investigation is underway.
