56-Year-Old Perris Woman Struck and Killed at Meadowbrook Avenue
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (March 21, 2018) – A woman was killed in a pedestrian collision on Highway 74 at Meadowbrook Avenue, on Wednesday afternoon.
According to a California Highway Patrol news release, the accident occurred around 2:08 PM on the 74 highway, just east of Greenwald Avenue. A pedestrian was sighted to be stepping in and out of the eastbound No. 2 lane.
The woman was struck by a 2013 Mazda 3 traveling about 45 mph. The 28-year-old Mazda driver came to a rest on the south shoulder of Highway 74 and called emergency personnel to the scene of the crash. The 56-year-old female victim from Perris was pronounced dead at the scene. No other damages or injuries were reported in the fatal collision.
CHP Officers reminded pedestrians to stay as far right on the shoulders or sidewalks as possible. Also, to only cross roads in a location where there is a marked crosswalk.
