10-Year-Old Boy Dies after Struck by Truck near Langstaff Street
LAKE ELSINORE, CA (March 13, 2018) – A child was fatally injured in a hit-and-run collision near Summer Avenue and Langstaff Street on Wednesday evening.
Sheriff’s officials were alerted about the incident around 7:22 PM. Upon arriving at the scene, officers found a 10-year-old boy on the road. He had sustained significant injuries and was in critical condition. The boy was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead.
Police are looking for the suspect vehicle, believed to be a red Chevrolet truck, that struck the boy and left him at the scene. The hit-and-run driver was described to be a Hispanic male. No other information on the hit-and-run driver, or the vehicle involved, have been diclosed.
The roadway at Sumner and Langstaff was closed for about five hours during the initial on-scene investigation.
The Traffic Reconstruction Team of the Lake Elsinore Police Department is conducting a full investigation to determine the exact cause of the collision. They are also currently looking for the driver and vehicle involved in this incident.
