7-Year-Old Laiyah Mitchell Killed in Highway 64 Collision [Tyler, TX]

Three Injured in Tyler Deadly Collision

Tyler, TX (February 6, 2024) – 7-year-old Laiyah Mitchell was killed while others were injured following a Highway 64 collision Sunday night.

The fatal collision unfolded at 7:15 p.m. on February 4 two miles west of Tyler.

Texas DPS officers said 18-year-old Sharya Snow of Tyler was driving a westbound 2018 Kia Forte on the freeway along with her passengers Laiyah Mitchell and 12-year-old Shaud Dewberry, both from Tyler.

Investigators said Snow pulled into the left turn lane and drove into the path of a 2014 Ram 3500 pickup.

Snow, Dewberry, and the Ram driver were taken to a Tyler hospital with non-incapacitating injuries.

Sadly, Laiyah Mitchell died at the accident scene.

Officers are investigating.
