88-Year-Old Sacramento Man Killed in Pedestrian Crash, Nahum Daniel Valdez Arrested for DUI
SACRAMENTO, CA (March 31, 2018) – An elderly man was struck and killed by a vehicle in a pedestrian collision that occurred on Saturday evening, on the intersection of 53rd Street and Broadway.
88-year-old Kyung Rae Jung of Sacramento was struck around 7 PM near Tahoe Park, by a car driven by 38-year-old Nahum Daniel Valdez. He was taken to a local hospital in critical condition, and later succumbed to his injuries.
Valdez was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the crash, according to Sacramento Police Department spokesman Sgt Vance Chandler. He was arrested after the collision on suspicion of gross vehicular manslaughter while intoxicated and DUI causing injury or death. Valdez remains in custody of the Sacramento County Jail with a bail set at $300,000.
