Branson Athlete Dies in Early Morning Fiery Crash on Highway 101 at Tamalpais Drive
CORTE MADERA, CA (June 10, 2019) – A Branson athlete was killed following a fiery crash early Monday morning in Corte Madera.
The crash happened around 2:18 a.m. on southbound Highway 101, just past the Tamalpais Drive overpass.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 2004 Honda sedan went off the highway, struck a tree and caught fire. Central Marin firefighters found the car fully engulfed on the right shoulder.
The driver of the car, a 17-year-old Kwentyn Wiggins of Marin City, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was the sole occupant of the vehicle.
Wiggins just finished his junior year at Branson School and was a standout quarterback for the Bulls’ eight-man football team.
The cause of the crash is under investigation. Witnesses are encouraged to call the CHP at 415-924-1100.
