2 Dead after Pedestrian Collision near Manuel Campos Parkway
FAIRFIELD, CA (August 10, 2018) – Two people were killed Friday morning, following a violent pedestrian crash on the 80 Freeway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the incident occurred shortly after 9:00 AM. The victims were identified as 46-year-old California Highway Patrol Officer, Kirk Griess, and 49-year-old Jaime Bueza Manuel of Vallejo. Griess was conducting an enforcement stop when the accident happened.
Griess and Manuel were struck by a pickup-truck, during a traffic stop. The cause of the collision and the events leading up to the fatal crash were not immediately released to the public. The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with officials during their investigation. He was taken to a local hospital for treatment of injuries.
Other details were not yet known, as the authorities continue to investigate. No further information has been released to the public.
