Car Accident on El Cajon Boulevard Leaves Kiana Taylor and Casey Hargis Dead
San Diego, CA (September 10, 2020) – On Wednesday, Kiana Taylor, 22, and passenger Casey Diane Hargis, 22, died in a fiery vehicle crash.
The incident occurred on El Cajon Boulevard at 70th Street.
Moreover, San Diego Police officer John Buttle said the accident happened at around 9:10 PM.
According to authorities, a 63-year-old 2016 Mercedes E400 driver suffering a medical problem ran a red light in the Rolando area. Therefore, this caused a five-vehicle collision that sent six people to the hospital.
Thus, Ms. Taylor and her 22-year-old passenger, Ms. Hargis, sustained serious injuries in the pileup.
They had been preparing to turn left onto 70th Street.
Then, the driver with medical issue struck their 2015 Ford Fusion from behind on eastbound El Cajon Boulevard.
Subsequently, the impact pushed both vehicles into the westbound lanes, where they were struck by three other vehicles — a Nissan Rogue SUV, a BMW, and a Honda Civic.
As a result of the crash, the Ford started a fire. Two women were trapped inside the Ford before witnesses pulled them from the car.
Moreover, Buttle said both women suffered second and third-degree burns over 70 percent of their bodies. They also sustained uncontrolled internal bleeding.
Immediately, the rescuers took them to a hospital for treatment of their injuries.
UCSD Medical Center medics pronounced Casey Hargis dead in the early morning on Thursday. Furthermore, the next day on September 11th, Kiana Taylor’s death was announced.
Officer Tony Martinez said the Mercedes driver was rushed to a hospital for treatment of unknown injuries.
Buttle added that the rescuers also rushed the 20-year-old Nissan driver, the 63-year-old BMW driver, and the 20-year-old Honda driver to local hospitals for treatment of minor injuries.
With heavy hearts, we send our condolences to the family and friends of Kiana Taylor and Casey Diane Hargis.
