1 Person Killed in Torrance Pedestrian Accident on Pacific Coast Highway near Calle Mayor
TORRANCE, CA (May 12, 2022) – Monday, authorities arrested Kevin Torres-Valencia after a hit-and-run crash on Pacific Coast Highway.
The incident happened when a woman crossed Pacific Coast Highway near Calle Mayor at about 1:45 a.m.
Then, Torres-Valencia struck and killed her. At this time, the identity of the deceased remains undisclosed due to pending family notification.
Meanwhile, the crash scattered clothing and debris in the middle of the road. Also, officers noted that the victim failed to use a crosswalk.,
After obtaining security camera footage, investigators managed to track the suspect to a home in Wilmington.
“A relative contacted us about the suspect. So officers responded to that location which was down in Wilmington and contacted the suspect there. And then through their follow-up investigation, they did make an arrest,” Torrance police Sgt. Mark Ponegalek revealed.
Ponegalek said their preliminary investigation determined that Kevin Torres-Valencia was not impaired. Eventually, they arrested him on suspicion of felony hit-and-run.
