Victor Covarrubias Arrested in Napa Hit-and-Run Crash
NAPA, CA (November 24, 2019) – A man was injured following a hit-and-run crash Sunday night in Napa, authorities said.
The crash happened around 1:00 a.m., on Highway 29 near Highway 221. Dispatchers arrived to the area shortly after.
A car was stopped on Highway 29 for unknown reasons when it was struck by another vehicle. According to the CHP, the second vehicle attempted to flee the scene following the collision.
33-year-old Kevin Nicol, of Napa was later identified as the driver of the stopped vehicle. He suffered moderate injuries as a result of the impact, and was taken to a nearby hospital for proper treatment.
Authorities later found 33-year-old Victor Saul Guzman Covarrubias of San Pablo inside his car about a quarter mile south of the crash. There, he was immediately arrested on a felony hit-and-run charge.
Covarrubias was eventually booked into the Napa County Jail around 1:00 a.m., on Monday. According to reports, bail was set at $100,000.
The surrounding area was closed off for a brief time while crews worked to clear the scene. However, further investigation is currently underway.
