Jamison Connor Arrested in Hit-and-Run Crash that Kills Bicyclist on La Honda Drive
ESCONDIDO, CA (November 23, 2019) – A bicyclist died in a hit-and-run crash Saturday morning in Escondido.
The fatal crash happened around 11:52 a.m. on La Honda Drive, just north of El Norte Parkway.
According to the California Highway Patrol, the cyclist was riding south on La Honda Drive when a dark-colored sedan struck him.
As a result, the cyclist suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. Authorities identified him as Kevin Lentz, 36, of Vista. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Lentz leaves behind a wife and infant son, Lawson.
Investigators said the driver of the car did not stopped and continued going northbound on La Honda Drive.
Five days after the crash, police found the suspect. At around 9:20 a.m. of Thanksgiving, they arrested 41-year-old Jamison Connor on weapons, drug and DUI charges stemming from an accident unrelated from the deadly crash.
Connor was booked into the Vista Detention Facility. Investigation into the crash is ongoing.
