STOCKTON, CA (December 14, 2019) – A baby and a mother were killed following a rear-end crash Saturday evening in Stockton.
The crash happened around 10:30 p.m. on 5 Freeway near Charter Way.
According to the CHP, a San Joaquin County sheriff’s deputy was driving northbound when for unknown reasons, he rear-ended a Ford sedan. The impact sent the Ford off the freeway and down an embankment.

After medics arrived, the baby boy was flown by helicopter to a children’s hospital, where he was later pronounced dead, the CHP said.
The mother was critically injured and was hospitalized. She also died four days later.
The deputy was also transported to a hospital, was treated and released.
Authorities identified the baby as 1-year-old Kevin Hart and the mother as 23-year-old Kalesha Johnson.
