Kevin Cook Identified as UK citizen Killed in Davenport Bicycle Crash on Highway 1
DAVENPORT, CA (May 29, 2019) — A man who was a UK citizen visiting California, died in a bicycle accident in Davenport on Thursday, May 23.
According to the Santa Cruz Sheriff’s Office, 66-year-old Kevin Stephen Cook was the deceased victim. He died because of multiple blunt force injuries while riding down Highway 1, south of Davenport Landing Road.
The California Highway Patrol’s initial report said that the man on the bicycle traveled in the southbound lane on Highway 1 in an undetermined manner. Then a 61-year-old Santa Cruz woman driving a Toyota Prius in the same direction crashed into the man on the bicycle just after 9:40 p.m.
The bicyclist, according to CHP, was then thrown off onto the northbound lane of Highway 1. After that, two more vehicles described as a Ford Fusion and a Hyundai Accent struck the man.
Paramedics pronounced the bicyclist dead at the scene, CHP said.
