12-Year-Old Kevin Briones Killed in Solo-Vehicle Crash on Lasater Road [Dallas, TX]

Dallas, TX (January 6, 2024) – 12-year-old Kevin Briones from Mesquite was killed and other s were injured in a solo-vehicle crash on Lasater Road Thursday morning.

The fatal collision unfolded at about 8:40 a.m. near the intersection with Lasater Road near Interstate 20.

Dallas Police Department said an SUV driven by a 12-year-old male was speeding before the collision.

Investigators said that the driver and a passenger were arguing when someone yanked the steering wheel causing the SUV to go off the road. The vehicle left the roadway and crashed into a tree.

Unfortunately, one of the passengers, Kevin Briones, died at the scene. 

The juvenile driver, and two other passengers, 11-year-old and 12-year-old males, were all transported to an area hospital in stable condition.

Moreover, Kevin’s mother, Michelle Briones, said her son was the oldest of four siblings. She added that her other son was also in the same vehicle when Kevin died. 

Sharon Webb, a nearby resident, said “The bumper was in the middle of the street, and the car was mangled,” said Sharon Webb, a nearby resident who was driving pass the crash. “It was very sad. It’s very, very sad.”

Video footage from the scene of the crash showed the front of the vehicle was badly damaged and smashed, along with the front windshield.
