Teenager Struck by Vehicle in S Street Pedestrian Collision
Newman, CA (August 11, 2022) On Wednesday morning, a 17-year-old boy was struck by a vehicle that ran a stop sign in Kern Street’s pedestrian accident.
Newman police say that the pedestrian collision happened around 8 a.m. at S Street a few blocks from Orestimba High School.
Reports say that a 20-year-old man driving an eastbound Toyota sedan did not stop at a stop sign and struck the boy.
Additionally, the vehicle was going at about 25 mph before it struck the pedestrian.
The teenager was at a crosswalk when the incident happened. The boy sustained moderate injuries, including a possible head injury.
Paramedics transported the boy to Memorial Medical Center in Modesto by helicopter.
Police are investigating the collision, and have not released further information at this time.
