1 Person Hospitalized in Independence Auto Accident on 1109 South Arlington Avenue
INDEPENDENCE, MO (October 9, 2024) – On Friday, authorities arrested Keona Smith after a disastrous DUI crash on 1109 South Arlington Avenue.
The incident happened on 1109 South Arlington Avenue, outside Van Horn High School.
According to reports, a female driver accused of driving drunk struck three students who were waiting for their buses. Then, the white GMC Acadia continued traveling and struck a four-foot-high brick retaining wall.
Moreover, responders transported one victim to a hospital with ankle injuries. Also, authorities said that the two other victims were not injured.
Furthermore, officers arrested the driver of the vehicle, identified as 33-year-old Smith, for three counts of child endangerment.
At this time, the events leading to the crash remained unclear. When additional information becomes available, the public will be notified.
Due to limited information, the authorities continued to investigate the crash.
