59-Year-Old Man Fatally Struck by Big Rig on 5 Freeway at Main Street
RED BLUFF, CA (December 28, 2018) – A man was killed following a pedestrian crash early Friday morning on 5 Freeway in Red Bluff, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The fatal crash happened around 3:03 a.m. on the southbound direction of the freeway, just North of Main Street.
Witnesses told officers that the man was standing in the middle of the lane just before being hit by a big rig, driven by Pardeep Singh Dulay, 29, of West Sacramento.
The victim, identified as a 59-year-old Kenneth Victor Scott of Red Bluff, was pronounced dead at the scene. He was reportedly wearing dark clothing.
The crash forced officials to close one southbound lane, as well as the off-ramp, for about three and a half hours.
It is unknown if charges has been filed and liability has not yet been determined. Further investigation is underway.
